New Kettle

Today we went out to buy a kettle, the old one was a few years old and is looking a bit disgusting on the inside.

So off we went to Currys. I never expect much from Currys, their prices are OK and their customer service is rubbish. On more than one occasion I have waited for 30 minutes just to buy a single item, not because the store was busy, but because there was no one there to serve me. This time we had a different problem.

The kettle was clearly marked £29.99 on the shelf, but once we took it to the till the girl who served me said it was, £35.99. I stopped at this and said "surely you mean £29.99". So I took her to see the shelf where I had picked up the kettle, which quite clearly said £29.99.

I stood my ground and she eventually said that even though all of the labels where mixed up should would give me a discount. I suggested that it wasn't my fault that the labels where mixed up, but she didn't seem to care. So I got the kettle for £29.99!

All this was after she had offered me 3 years warranty on the thing for £9.99. Amazing, does she actually expect me to buy warranty on a product that already has 3 years warranty for a third of the price of the item?

But what a kettle! It has LED's built in so that it produces what it calls "mood lighting" in quite a few different colours. But when you turn it on it starts off blue and slowly turns orange and yellow as the water gets hotter and boils as it reaches red. Our last kettle used to make a lot of noise after it has turned off, but this one is different. The very instant the water is boiling it turns off and is completely silent immediately. Brilliant.
